There are many exceedingly wicked preachers and theologians who charge God with sin or wrongdoing:
“I do not have an answer to why God would permit Lucifer, an angel, to fall. In other words, how can a perfectly pure being with no evil inclinations, suddenly have an evil inclination? And the answer is: I don’t know. The most ultimate mystery to me is the origin of sin in created beings. I will say God oversaw it and ultimately ordained it, without Himself culpably causing it. Culpably. And how you could cause it any other way I’m not sure–and yet God reigns and ordains from before the fall that there would be a crucified Savior for sinners and therefore it was all in the plan” (John Piper, [my transcription of an online video–CD]).
How “can a perfectly pure being with no evil inclinations, suddenly have an evil inclination?” This has to be one of the easiest theological questions in existence. The simple and easy to understand answer is that God caused Lucifer to become evil; God actively caused him to have an evil inclination. Will the reader or John Piper now object by saying, “Why does God find fault with Lucifer, for who resists His will?”?
The origin of sin in created beings is NOT a mystery, contrary to the antichristian, pseudo-pious pontificating of Pied Piper. Piper says that God ordained sin without culpably causing it. As far as Piper knows, any kind of causing sin on God’s part would make Him culpable. Piper blasphemously denies God’s sovereignty and righteousness.
This mutiny is par for the Calvinistic course; this mutiny is the Calvinistic and Reformed consensus. Piper cloaks his rejection of God’s revelation on the matter with false humility and piety. He resists and suppresses the truth in unrighteousness.
Here’s Dabney struggling to figure out something very easy to understand. It is easy to see why theologians like Piper and Dabney struggle so. In their suppression of the truth in unrighteousness they see the simplicity of the answer, but they think the clear answer implicates God as morally culpable. And so, in accordance with their own set of presuppositions that suppress this truth, they try to rescue a god of their own vain imaginations from the condemnation of their human standard of righteousness.
“If Volitions Are Certainly Determined, How Could A Holy Being Have This First Wrong Volition?
How a holy will could come to have an unholy volition at first, is a most difficult inquiry. And it is much harder as to the first sin of Satan, than of Adam, because the angel, hitherto perfect, had no tempter to mislead him, and had not even the bodily appetites for natural good which in Adam were so easily perverted into concupiscence. Concupiscence cannot be supposed to have been the cause, pre–existing before sin; because concupiscence is sin, and needs itself to be accounted for in a holy heart. Man’s, or Satan’s, mutability cannot be the efficient cause, being only a condition sine qua non . Nor is it any solution to say with Turrettin, the proper cause was a free will perverted voluntarily. Truly; but how came a right will to pervert itself while yet right? And here, let me say, is far the most plausible objection against the certainty of the will, which Arminians, etc., might urge far more cunningly than (to my surprise) they do. If the evil dispositions of a fallen sinner so determine his volitions as to ensure that he will not choose spiritual good, why did not the holy dispositions of Adam and Satan ensure that they would never have a volition spiritually evil? And if they somehow chose sin, contrary to their prevalent bent, why may not depraved man sometime choose good?” (from R. L. Dabney’s Systematic Theology).
Men like Piper and Dabney would by regarded by many as ones who uphold the doctrine of Divine sovereignty (which is a complete joke). Both of these men are the objector to the apostle Paul in Romans 9:19. When it comes to choosing between God’s majesty and their religious tradition, their tradition wins every time. They would boldly attempt to rip God off His throne.
“Why have the nations raged and the peoples are meditating on vanity? The kings of the earth set themselves; yea, the rulers have plotted together against Jehovah and His Anointed, saying, We will break their bands in two, and throw off their cords from us. He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall mock at them. Then He will speak to them in His anger, and He will terrify them in His wrath” (Psalm 2:1-5).
“Help, O Jehovah, for the godly ceases to be; for the faithful fail from among the sons of men. They speak vanity, each man with his neighbor; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak. Jehovah shall cut off all with flattering lips and the tongue that speaks great things; who say, We shall be strong by our tongue; our lips are our own; who is lord over us?” (Psalm 12:1-4).
