though I am unreformed/unrefined, when Brother Mark graciously allowed me to join a site that was primarily for the Calvinists/DoG, I did so hoping to see things through their eyes, to try to get a better understanding of how they see things the way they do. Your coming on here with the “bull in a china shop” attitude is uncalled for. I don’t agree with a lot of their doctrine, and neither do they mine, but I love them as Brothers and Sisters in the Lord. Please, do not come on here and mess up the harmony they do have.
The iconic china housed in this china shop was indeed being smashed by me with the Hammer of God’s Word (Jeremiah 23:29). I was the iconoclast smashing the company of their idols before their self-righteously indignant eyes (it was quite invigorating). The men they revere and idolize (e.g., Machen, Calvin, Boettner, Sproul) have by their writings, shown themselves to be ravenous wolves and devourers — DENIERS of the true faith. When searching for the true church in the writings of church history we must look for THE TRUE GOSPEL. For where the true gospel is found that is where the true church is found (see: http://www.outsidethecamp.org/ccfvi.htm).
My spirit was stirred in me when I saw the Calvinist Cafe wholly given to idolatry (cf. Acts 17:16). A stroll through this idolatrous wasteland reveals the adulation of Gresham Machen who Satanically sacrificed the truth upon the altar of antichristian false peace:
“What then is our conclusion? Is belief in the virgin birth necessary to every man if he is to be a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ? The question is wrongly put when it is put in that way. Who can tell exactly how much knowledge of the facts about Christ is necessary if a man is to have saving faith? None but God can tell. Some knowledge is certainly required, but how much is required we cannot say. ‘Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief’ said a man in the Gospel who was saved. “It must be admitted that there are many Christians who do not accept the doctrine of plenary inspiration. That doctrine is denied not only by liberal opponents of Christianity, but also by many true Christian men” (Machen, Christianity and Liberalism, p. 75).
“The greatest menace to the Christian Church today comes not from the enemies outside, but from the enemies within; it comes from the presence within the Church of a type of faith and practice that is anti-Christian to the core. We are not dealing here with delicate personal questions; we are not presuming to say whether such and such an individual man is a Christian or not. God only can decide such questions; no man can say with assurance whether the attitude of certain individual ‘liberals’ toward Christ is saving faith or not. But one thing is perfectly plain–whether or no liberals are Christians, it is at any rate perfectly clear that liberalism is not Christianity” (Machen, Christianity and Liberalism, pp. 159-160).
True Christians know the voice of the true Shepherd and will NEVER follow a false one (see John 10:4-5). Gresham Machen was a false Christian who withdrew from one Synagogue of Satan (PCUSA) to form his own Synagogue of Satan (OPC). Machen’s so-called “defenses of the faith” were simply learned and scholarly pretexts to commit spiritual fornication with God-haters and to show his utter contempt for the TRUTH (cf. John 14:6).
